Blah blah blah.....

So I've been feeling pretty anxious lately.  I get like this a lot when I get bored with my life which is why being on tour was so great for me.  Don't get me wrong I love to have a schedule and know what's going to happen from day to day but I get so tired of day to day being the same.  I get so antsy sometimes wanting to get out of the house and break my routine and then I realize that I don't know where to go or what to do.  

I'm a pretty social gal and I love going out in Dallas to different events and meeting new people but lately I feel like everything's kinda happening around me and I'm missing it.  Does that even make sense?

I guess that's a big reason why I started this blog.  So that I will have something new to look forward to and focus on.

Blah blah blah.....enough of that nonsense.

I will post a weekend update soon BUT I want to CONGRATULATE one of my dearest friends on her ENGAGEMENT this weekend!  Congrats Brookie, I'm so happy for you!  I can't wait for our girls night celebration this week.  If it's anything like the last celebration we are in for a GREAT night!

We Owned The Night

WOW!  What a fabulous Saturday!  I spent most of the day shopping and found some great little gems, thank you TJ Max and Forever 21!  Then we braved the rain and headed out to dinner and the Lady Antebellum concert.

We went to The Commissary in One Art's Plaza.  It was delicious!  We ordered drinks (Chimay Red for Ash, white wine for Lindsay, and Magic Hat #9 for me) and then ordered burgers.  I had the West Coast Burger and it was awesome.  I love anything with avocado on it so this burger was perfect for me.  If you go, ask for Corey, he was the best!

After dinner we headed to the AAC for the Lady Antebellum concert.  Oh. My. Gosh.  They are 

AH-mazing live!  Seriously, every song was perfect and they were so entertaining.  I got a little video of my favorite song Wanted You More and took a few pics.  Enjoy!

Always bring a koozie

One of the things I love about living in Dallas is all of the great sports teams we have.  Now I'm not a HUGE sports fan (unless is the Mavs) but I do LOVE sporting events.  The crowd, the noise, the food, the drinks!  Maybe its because I didn't get to enjoy college sports like most of my girlfriends.  Oklahoma City University didn't have a football team and I spent most Saturday nights dancing at the basketball games (I was more focused on remembering all of our dances then actually enjoying the game).  

In my 2 1/2 year love affair with this city I have gotten to go to 2 Dallas Cowboys games, 2 Texas Rangers games, and 2 Dallas Mavs games.  The only thing left was to go see our hockey team, The Stars.  Thursday night I lucked out and got to join my friend Katy and her cousin in their Platinum level seats!  Thanks Katy and Clint!  2 things I learned very quickly about hockey games:

1. ALWAYS bring a jacket.  I thought I'd be fine in long sleeves and a cardi and I was FREEZING!

2. ALWAYS bring a koozie (I was freezing, but my hands weren't)

I got to grab a couple of my favorite girls last night (we missed you Ash) and do dinner and a movie.  We went to a restaurant none of us had ever been to which I was so excited about.  See I'm one of those people that LOVES to try new restaurants especially ones that are local to Dallas.  Here's where we chose:

Lombardi's Cibus

The food was SOOOOOO good!  The service was SOOOOOO slow.  There is nothing that bothers me more than poor customer service, I think this is because I have worked in customer service pretty much since I started working in my teens.  We seriously sat there for what felt like 15 minutes before our drink order was taken (Pinot Grig for me, Pinot Nior for Brookie, and a mojito for Linds) and then we had to ask someone to take our dinner order (Margherita pizza for me, Crab salad for Brookie, and Chicken Caesar salad for Linds).  Luckily the food was so great that we got over the poor service pretty quickly.  After dinner, we headed upstairs to the theatre to see This Means War!

It was very cute.  I'll definitely be buying adding this to my movie collection in a few months.

Tonight I get to try a restaurant I've never been to before (yay!).  The Commissary has been on my list of places to eat for awhile and I'm so glad my girls agreed to go to night.  After dinner I will be singing my heart out at the Lady Antebellum concert!

Well Happy Valentine's Day peeps!  No, I did not have a hunny this year but I have some of the best girlfriends in the world that loved on me.

I started thinking about all of my past Valentine's Days and thought it might be fun to share them with you!

Senior year of High School:

My BF at the time (who turned out later to be NOT a nice guy) had each of my teachers give me a rose and a note with 2 lines from a poem he had written me.  When I got to my last class, my teacher turned on the song "My Girl" and handed me 1 dozen roses, a box of chocolates, a teddy bear, and the final copy of the poem.  Very sweet and AH-mazing when you're 17 years old.  By the way, we had only been dating for a month when this happened.

Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years of college:

I'm sure these were spent with a deck of cards and a case of beer.  Hehehehe don't judge!

Senior year of college:

I was robbing the cradle at this time and dating a freshman.  He told me we were going to dinner with 2 of our friends but that he forgot his wallet at his big brother's apartment (yes, he was a Frat Daddy who lived in the dorms.  Hence the borrowed apartment). When we got to the apartment to "pick up his wallet" there were candles everywhere and a very sweet mixed cd (hahaha) playing.  The sweet boy had made me dinner AND dessert and had gotten me what he thought were the obligatory flowers and chocolates.  It actually was a really thought out plan.  His roommate stayed at the apartment and waited for a text saying we were on our way.  The roomie lit the candles and turned on the cd (I still have this cd BTW and its pretty great) and left before we walked in.  Looking back, that was one of the sweetest memories I have from the freshman.

We are going to fast forward a few years to Valentine's Day 2010.  There were a couple of sweet occurrences in the years between Sr year and 2010 but none really blog worthy.

V Day 2010

This was a weird one because I was involved in a long distance romance but we weren't officially BF-GF.  We both were very emotionally attached but due to the fact we lived in different cities it was hard to date. At the time I was choreographing and directing a production of Beauty and the Beast, I was broke as a joke, and just REALLY stressed out about where my life was headed.  I had made a comment on a friend's Facebook about making chocolate cupcakes because it was the only chocolate I was going to get for Valentine's Day and he had seen it.  In the middle of rehearsal, flowers and chocolates were delivered along with a very sweet card.  Unfortunately, things did not work out with this boy as much as we both tried (there is a blog post, or 7, here but tonight is not the night for that) but this was such a sweet gesture that showed me he really cared about me.

So all in all I guess I've had some pretty stellar Valentine's Day occurrences.  They just have been overshadowed by the fact that each of these relationships has ended.  I know that's not the most positive way to look at things but let's face it: when someone breaks your heart, you don't really want to remember the good things about them.  

I'm not one to be bitter about being single on Valentine's Day.  I brought my girls at work Chic-fil-a breakfast and then enjoyed brownies, cupcakes, and 3 different desserts from my bosses, clients, and dance students.  My mom sent me the sweetest card and my dad sent me a text.  I'm a pretty blessed girl, single or not.

While I was writing this, my favorite Dave song came on my iTunes, so I leave you with this:

So after I accepted my Smurf fingers, I grabbed the girls, 2 bottles of wine, and snacks to sit down to watch the Grammys.  Things you need for a Grammy watch party:

  Cute wine glasses and a cheap (but oh so tasty) bottle of Pinot Grig (cue Ramona Singer)

Look at that sweet face!  She snuggled with me all night, which is probably why my allergies are KILLING me today.

First of all, I was SUPER impressed with LL Cool J's opening prayer.  I really appreciated what he said about losing Whitney Houston and the impact she had on the music industry.

Secondly, this song:

I've NEVER gotten tired of these lyrics.  I absolutely love the way their voices sound together and Ms. Clarkson was looking pretty elegant if I do say so myself.

Third, Mr. Brown

I DO NOT agree with your He-man woman hating actions or attitude.  BUT I have to say, you and your dancers put on a good show.  I was crazy about all of the fun colors and boxes.  None of this means I like you though.

Finally, I was MOST excited to see these 2:

My Facebook and Twitter feed have been flooded with Nicki Minaj and Adele comments.  Here's what I have to say:  Obviously Nicki is a crazy B, but girl knows how to put on a show.  I saw her live last summer and was a huge fan!  I didn't care for her performance last night but it wasn't enough for me to write her off.  

Miss "I'm 22 and I'm the greatest singer alive with my 8 grammys", you are simply 

AH-mazing!  Adele, please don't find love because I'm afraid you will run out of material.  Ok not really, but......kinda.

Alrighty friends I am going to get back to the Bachelor Pad episode (go Kacie B!!!) and this big glass of Pinot waiting for me.

Weekend Update

What a weekend!  I spent all day Saturday in Ft. Worth at a dance competition with my fabulous girls!  I'm so glad that even though I have a "big girl" full time job, I still get to teach dance.  I work with some of the best people!  Here are some pics from the awards ceremony:

I spent Sunday in bed catching up on a blog I have just fallen in love with!  Pink Lou Lou is just precious!  I'm late to the game because she's been blogging for a couple of years so I made it the day's mission to finish all of her old posts so I could start following her updates.

Let me introduce myself

Well hey y'all! So first thing is first, my name is Elise and I am a 20-something living in the great city of Dallas, TX. I'm trying to make some changes in my life (I feel like that's the theme of being in your 20's) and I felt like blogging would be a great way to start.

So to put myself out there a bit, here are a few things you need to know about me:

1. I'm an only child and an only grandchild on one side

Ok so obvs this pic isOLD(senior year of college after a dance show). Both the 'rentals and I are a few years older now, but it's the rare picture of the three of us together. My parents have been divorced since I was a baby so we don't have "family" pics laying around.

2. I'm a dancer

This pic was taken when I was touring with a Disney show (yes I worked for the mouse, we'll get to that in a minute). My gubs (gay husband) and I decided we needed to practice our moves on the Golden Gate Bridge. BTW, no my leg is NOT bent here, it just looks that way thanks to my baggy sweats from Vickies.

I have danced since I was a wee little one and even went off to college and got a degree in Dance Management. I have since danced for an arena football team, directed my high school's dance team, danced on a Telemundo show, worked for THE Mouse, been a dancing Saloon Girl, and much more!

3. I worked for THE Mouse

When I first moved to L.A. I got a job dancing in the Christmas Parade at Disneyland. Little did I know that I would soon have a love affair with Disney! Soon after the holidays of '07 I received a contract to tour with Playhouse Disney Live. Our show toured England and Scotland for 2 months and then we loaded up on 4 tour buses and did a U.S. domestic tour. That's right, I lived on a tour bus and in hotel rooms for a year of my life!

There will be many more pics and updates soon but this is a good start.
