1. Be early, not on time...
and definitely NOT late. Keep in mind that every fitness studio you go to will probably have paperwork to fill out. Try to remember the rule "If you're 10 minutes early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late." If you are rushing in at the last minute not only are you completely annoying the instructor and your classmates but you may not be giving yourself the time you may need to grab any equipment (free weights, resistance bands, etc) and you may miss the warm-up.
2. Zip it
I love to go to classes with my friends. They provide motivation when you need it and there's just something to be said for knowing that someone else is suffering through those 90 second planks just as mush as you are. However, a class is NOT the time to chit chat. I have zero tolerance for this and have been known to stand right in between 2 of my barre clients to get them to zip it. You paid a lot of money to be there and take the class so focus on yourself and not whatever you and your friends are doing that weekend.
3. Know your place
Unless the class is completely full spread out and give everyone some room. There is nothing like getting your perfect spot in a class and having someone set up literally right next to you. Unless you are a REALLY hot guy that is going to ask me out afterwards then by all means set up as close as you want :)

ha this is a good list! i mean i'm always nervous in a new class so my butt is there early and paying attention. so i don't look like the idiot! even though i prob do since i have no idea what i'm doing :)

LOL oh we have all seen that person!! If I'm ever taking a class for the first time I hate being there late because I don't want to be "that" person...or chatty cathy...it's like zip it!! LOL - xo, Biana - BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteOh these are great! I don't go to any fitness classes - I go to Planet Fitness everyday but those rules still apply! I hate when the gym is empty and someone plops their stuff right next to you - it is so aggravating and it makes me lose focus on my workout!
ReplyDeleteHaha love this! I will never understand why, when there is an empty row of workout equipment, some people will come post up RIGHT next to you - major pet peeve!!
ReplyDeletehahahaha 'jaw day' love it!! i hate when people get next to me on the treadmill!
ReplyDeleteOMG nothing irritates me more than these types of people at the gym. When someone gets on the treadmill next to me when there are a million open treadmills it makes me want to pull a Big Daddy and throw a stick at them while they're running and make them fall. Ok so that was roller blades but same concept.
