All You Gotta Do Is Put a Drink In My Hand

I am a big fan of alcohol in the summer. Whether it's a beer, a glass of wine (or champs), or the perfect cocktail, you can usually find me with a koozie or a highball glass in my hand on the weekends.  To me there is nothing better than a day on the boat with a cold beer.

This summer I've started getting a little creative with my cocktails and I thought I'd share some of my favorite recipes.

Michelada

Micheladas are perfect for when you can't decide between a Bloody Mary and a beer. The most popular recipe I've found is
-1 lime wedge
-salt
-fresh lime juice
-dash of worcestershire
-freshly ground black pepper
-5 dashes Tabasco
-Tecate

There's a restaurant here in KZoo that leaves out the worcestershire, seasoning and Tabasco. They pour fresh lime juice over ice and then add a cold beer.  Either way, a Michelada is a great summer beer alternative.

Shiner Ruby Red Bird

Speaking of beer, Shiner Ruby Redbird has got to be one of my FAVORITE seasonal brews! It's light and crisp and has the wonderful tart taste of grapefruit.  These go down like water, especially out by the pool.

LaCroix Apricot Bellini

Some days, you just need a cocktail. You're all aware of my LaCroix obsession, and anything you can add liquor to is a perfect drink in my book.  This recipe sounds like it would be perfect for a nice Sunday brunch.

What are some of your favorite summer drinks?

  1. I drink so much more alcohol in the summertime. I haven't had a michelada in so long, it sounds so refreshing!
