Like I said on Friday, I went on my first real camping trip this weekend. I think it's safe to say that Michigan and some of our other friends were a little skeptical about how I would hold up. I am proud to say that I had a great time and while I wouldn't want to camp every single weekend, I'd definitely go again. My only complaint the whole weekend was that it was FREEZING on Saturday.
We stayed at Silver Lake State Park and it was so nice to have the lake right outside the tent.

The most beautiful part about this area is they have these HUGE sand dunes that you can climb. You can also rent ATVs for the day and we said we'd definitely do that next time. We took the boat straight up to the dunes on Saturday and decided to climb up to the tallest one. The hike was a little intense but the view was SO worth it.
You can see our friend's boat off to the left side. We spent the rest of the day hanging out on the boat and playing volleyball on the beach. All of the Michigan people ran around in their bathing suits and tshirts while I was in sweats and a hoodie. C'mon, it was 58 degrees people! This Texas girl was FREEZING!
We spent Friday and Saturday nights at the camp site cooking, having flippy cup tournaments, playing games, and making smores. It was such a fun weekend with the 6 of us!

One of my favorite things we did this weekend was EAT! For breakfast one morning, we made Hobo pies and they were so delicious. Basically, you put 2 pieces of bread in these cast iron skillets that hook together and you add any kind of filling (we did eggs, sausage, cheese, and veggies for breakfast). You hold these things right over the fire to cook and when they're done you have this lovely little sandwich. I had no idea these things existed! I also made these yummy pinwheels to snack on in the boat. They were a big hit!
I spent the rest of my weekend doing laundry, cleaning, cooking for the week, and finally getting my car washed. Obviously it rained today, doesn't that ALWAYS happen when you wash your car?

How was YOUR weekend?

What a fun weekend!! Sadly I dont think I'll ever be a "camper" but I can just live through you!! Fun fact: my dad owned car washes before he retired haha..so I'd always get to go through those things!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like so much fun! I've never been camping before and I've been itching to go.. I'd have to leave Texas for it though because I'm not about to sleep outside in the Texas heat without ac :)
